Let me start by saying I am serious about buying your gravely tractor. First Encounter, Second Encounter, Next Encounter, Before First Encounter. Of course, it was probably chosen deliberately for the two different meanings. And then there's the whole time travel issue - it's not Before First Encounter, it actually takes place afterwards, assuming time is a linear construct. Let me put it this way: before the first encounter would make it what encounter number. Again, you're right, it is a logical flaw in the naming, but Serious Sam doesn't follow real world logic. And, as I said, as a prequel, it had to be worked around the already existing First Encounter. By following real world logic, this game would have to be called First Encounter and the others would have to be retroactively named Second Encounter and Third Encounter. Not really worth the bother, just to be in keeping with the series naming scheme. Before First Encounter fits the scheme fine, indicates the games status as a prequel what does serious mean even sounds pretty cool.
